Our Uganda Adventure is a unique way to experience THIS incredible part of the world in a very local way. EXPLORING THE WATERS OF THE RIVER NILE BY KAYAK AND PADDLE BOARDS, AND BECOMING AN integral part of the team delivering our world-famous Sleepwell Project.

UGANDA EXPERIENCE TEAM 2022 - 4 WEEK TRIP

This ADVENTURE IS A COMBINATION OF EVERYTHING WE LOVE ABOUT uGANDA, THE PEOPLE, THE RIVER AND THE INCREDIBLE NATURE.

2 week Itinerary

DAY 1

November 4th Depart your country

Upon arriving very late at Entebbe International Airport - we will be met by our local team and begin the short journey to our accommodation in Kampala.

DAY 2

November 5th

After an early breakfast, we travel to Jinja Town and Bujagali Village. Time to relax and settle into our accommodation, We take a swim in the lake, a village walk and then enjoy our first Bujagali Sunset over the River Nile before enjoying Dinner.

DAY 3

November 6th

Sleep in or an early Sunrise? This will be a daily choice whilst in the village, after breakfast we fill a local boat with paddle boards and kayaks then travel upstream of the lake before floating/playing/exploring the warm gentle waters back down to the village via a tasty lunch stop.

DAY 4

November 7th

A full day on the river, hosted by the local guides at Kayak The Nile, you can kayak (single/tandem) or paddleboard this section. The section has so much to offer with fun lines, rapids and waves to explore…not to mention lunch afloat!

DAY 5

November 8th

Today we are preparing for the Sleepwell Project organising the arrival of Mattresses. Then we drive to Super Hole for the afternoon into a sunset surf session.

We explore Jinja and prepare for the arrival of the mattresses and the Village Sleepwell Project.

DAY 8

November 10th

A super early start for the drive to Murchison Falls National Park and our Safari. Visiting the top of Murchison Falls is possibly one of the most ferocious picnic spots you will ever dine at...you thought Itanda Falls was big think again! The possibility of an evening safari time dependant.

DAY 9

November 11th

The day begins as the sun rises above Murchison Falls National Park, we begin our 4-hour long game drive as we make our way north of the river and deeper into the park to see elephants, Lion, Giraffe, abundant birdlife, and other animals. After lunch, we jump aboard a 3-hour river safari to view Murchison Falls from water level with the birds, crocs, hippos, and elephants. A shorter sunset safari as the day comes to a close.

DAY 10

November 12th

We leave Murchison Falls National Park after a short safari south of the river. On the way back we take a walk with the only Wild Rhino in Uganda at Ziiwa Rhino Sanctuary. Arriving back in Bujagali for an evening meal with the team.

The day begins as the sun rises above Murchison Falls National Park, we begin our 4-hour long game drive as we make our way north of the river and deeper into the park to see elephants, Lion, Giraffe, abundant birdlife, and other animals. After lunch, we jump aboard a 3-hour river safari to view Murchison Falls from water level with the birds, crocs, hippos, and elephants. A shorter sunset safari as the day comes to a close.

2 week Itinerary

DAY 1

Depart your country on November 4th

Upon arriving at Entebbe International Airport - you will be met by Tommy and David along with one of our drivers as you begin the drive (40 km) to our accommodation and first stop in Kampala.

DAY 2

A calm start to the day with Breakfast and welcome with the team, here we can discuss important things and even more important things like your personal and photographic goals for the adventure ahead. In the afternoon, Team Think People Think Story takes us to visit the New Hope Dance Project, and guide us through their community.

DAY 3

The team takes us on a deep dive into Kampala exploring. This is a great way to get into the energy of a diverse and bustling city. In the afternoon/evening we will have a photography discussion on how to get the best images during the project.

DAY 4

After breakfast, we travel to Jinja Town then to Bujagali and Kyabirwa Village. A relaxed time to settle into accommodation, We enjoy a stroll around the village and meet our host families before enjoying our first Bujagali Sunset over the River Nile and Dinner.

DAY 5

Sleep in or an early Sunrise? This will be a daily choice whilst in the village, the walk is only 10 minutes to a breathtaking sunrise scene on the banks of the Nile. Today we move into the village with your host family.

DAY 6

A full day exploring Jinja by Boda Boda, select your driver, saddle up, and off we go moving through Jinja Town and its surrounding areas, including the shops, markets, fishing port, bridges, and train station.

DAY 7

Optional Adventure day to enjoy some of the local activities, take some time to rest, explore or focus on some specific areas of photography, edit some images, or just eat pineapples. An evening Photo Walk in Jinja with a local and international group of photographers who head out monthly. Out for Dinner In Jinja Town

DAY 8

We take a trip to one of the largest rapids on the river, Itanda Falls, we may see some kayakers passing through or at least a raft or two flipping. This is an iconic location with thundering whitewater, some freaky wildlife, and plenty of ways to get creative with the cameras.

DAY 9

Today you will have a chance to pursue personal projects guided by the team, you will no doubt have met someone or seen something that you would love to learn more about and photograph, you have the freedom and support to make this happen.

DAY 10

Following yesterday, you may need more project time or simply want to explore a new direction. It is important to us that you feel accomplished during your journey, and we will do everything we can to support this happening. Today is also a time to get your images printed and return them to the people who need to see them.

DAY 11

We head to Jinja for some shopping you may want some of the amazing art for your walls at home and then a trip back inside the market to source the supplies for the evening Dinner at Mamas, a beautiful way to spend your last evening in the village. This is a family meal prepared and shared with pure heart and humor, everyone is welcome.

DAY 12

DAY 14

We leave Murchison Falls National Park after a short safari south of the river. We take a trip to the Ziiwa Rhino sanctuary on the way back to Kampala and take a walk with the only Wild Rhino in Uganda. We enjoy reflecting on the trip and having an evening meal with the team.


DAY 15

Depending on your onward journey we share a team breakfast and make arrangements from here. Unless you would like to stay for another week??

TOMMY

Tommy will be leading the experience, exploring alongside you each day, and delivering the core coaching sessions with a host of local photographers.

DAVID

David is our village team leader, responsible for making your time in his community, rewarding fun, safe, and of course adventurously unforgettable. David will be there every step of the way, whilst capturing video and behind-the-scenes photos of your experience.

AMBROSE

Ambrose will lead our time with the city team, sharing stories, culture, and his community of Acholi quarters in Kampala. Everything from health to safety, logistics to lunch this man has us covered.

Morris is the creative heart of the city team, an up-and-coming photographer who will help you find the people and the places to create not just beautiful images but real experiences and relationships.
