BUJA BEAN COFFEE | UGANDA

Sitting on a small stool in a shady corner of the garden, Buja Bean’s Coffee King slowly roasts his next batch of beans. It’s early 2023, almost 7 years since I first met Muganda, the short dude with a giant laugh, addicted to football and deeply passionate about coffee.

Coffee trees grow throughout Kyabirwa village and at the right moment Muganda picks his own and then awaits delivery to buy from the surrounding gardens. The beans are then dried in the hot Ugandan sunshine and prepared for roasting.

Muganda in 2023 has set up a shop with the kickstart from the guests paying to stay with him during our 2022 trip. The coffee shop is thriving and the villagers are loving the fresh coffee daily and all night if they are off to party the night away.
