For previous, current and future generations, the boreholes have and will continue to serve safe and accessible water to the community. My connection to this particular borehole runs deep, and upon returning to the village this year I saw it was completely overgrown, with some further investigation I found out that it had not been working since almost the time I'd left the previous year.
This was the perfect time to explore the evolving story of the Borehole. With a few meetings, a lot of motivation and a 50/50 cost split the community mobilised a mechanic to come along and assess the problem. After assessment we all decided to go-ahead with a quick fix solution to get the water pumping from the ground once more.
Over 2 days we took it apart, pulled it from the ground, fixed it up and put it all back together. This project will continue, but soon after Covid took over so, please just enjoy our video shot primarily by the boys, Musa, Karim and Zuba as the community came together to achieve stage 1 of getting the water back. We will share more when the time comes.
