THE BOREHOLE AND BEYOND…
I wanted to continue the journey of The Borehole, and saw an opportunity to connect the youngsters in my home community of Tavistock with the Children in Uganda.
During the summer of 2019, I set up an exhibition in Tavistock Library, with the actual 2-meter wide print that traveled to Uganda with me earlier in the year. I created and set a date for a talk and also a press release explaining the idea.
The children who came to visit the image would be able to write/design and send a postcard to one or more of the children in the image. The process was simple, enjoy the image, select the person you want to write to from the names on the image, and them design and post your card.
THE POSTCARDS.
The Postcards is one of those projects that evolved from my portrait of 37 children at The Borehole, with our world so easily connected through emails I wanted to use creativity and connect children from the borehole image in the village in Uganda to children visiting the library in my home town. Using a rather large print and some postcards the UK wrote to Uganda and Uganda replied.
THE POSTCARDS.
If you were part of the project or wrote a postcard, please get in contact using the email address at the bottom of the page.
