1- FOCUS BY MUSA.jpg

Story | Musa is the grandson of Mama, and we all live together in their village home. Naturally inquisitive Musa finds himself either in front or behind the camera and so during the Brotherhood photo shoot, he wasn’t shy in coming forward to get painted by local artist Jaffer and pose in front of the canvas.

In this shot, he is mimicking my actions to have him look directly into the lens.

2 - MUSA.jpg

STORY | As a photographer I have to get creative ways to bring little things out of my subjects, sometimes this is through verbal communication, jokes, or stories other times when that isn’t always easy I just poke my tongue out, this may get you a smile or create a fun yet striking moment such as this.

3 - BROTHERHOOD.jpg

STORY | Karim is a very creative youngster and here he delivers one of my favorite images ‘BROTHERHOOD' - On my last afternoon in Uganda in 2017, I’d planned for my friend and artist Jaffer to come and collaborate on an idea I had before leaving the UK.

The Ugandan Flag is made up of 3 colours,

BLACK = THE PEOPLE

YELLOW = THE SUNSHINE

RED = THE BLOOD THAT BOND UGANDANS.

4 - THE RIVER SWING.jpg

STORY | Flying towards the setting sun on a piece of rope attached high into a tree above the River Nile is possibly the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Uganda.

5 - BUJAGALI SUNSET.jpg

STORY | Zuba, flying high after releasing from the rope swing. This usually takes about 3 or 4 swings back and forth to find the right position to take off. To swing this is fun, but to photograph, this is a beautiful and challenging experience.

Silhouettes are a dream during the sunset, you just have to be quick and find the right place to perch.

6- SPIDERMAN_UG.jpg

STORY | Zuba once again getting creative on the rope swing. This image got the name Spiderman.UG after a comment posted by a local friend Musa on Instagram.

7 - MAMA.jpg

STORY | Mama Muganda at home in Kyabirwa Village. The village bank is run by the ladies, 1 box 4 padlocks 4 keys. each week they come together to organise their finances and share time relaxing. I asked if the following week they would like to dress up and have their portraits made…

8 - PINEAPPLE TRUCK.jpg

STORY | You, unfortunately, haven’t tasted pineapples until you have the juice of a Ugandan Pineapples all over your hands and face. These are the very best in the world and pulling into a gas station this truck was fully loaded.

9 - THE SWING.jpg

STORY | Each Sunday, off we went to the Swing, a great way to cool off and share some joy time with the kids. I wanted a new perspective, so hitched a ride in a fishing boat and set up opposite the group. In a moment where most of them were on the bank, I saw the formation, shape, and light come pretty close together, and with a couple of adjustments, we made it happen before the chaos swung in!

10 - MY EYES 2.jpg

STORY | Watching the soccer inside a hall/hut this youngster was peering through the wooden bars trying to get a glimpse of the action. The beautiful light bouncing off the outside wall was enough to enhance the already magical eyes.
