11 - SODA.jpg

STORY | Glass is a common sight for soda bottles in Uganda and across Africa in general. Most bars will serve them this way and collect the bottles back in and the cycle continues. A common sight creating a pleasing pattern for one if not the world’s biggest drinks brand.

12 - OUR EYES.jpg

STORY | 3 inquisitive little humans sneak a peek through the hut wall in Uganda.

13 - HER EYES.jpg

STORY | A little lady peeking through the slot in the wall trying to get a look at the TV playing the football match.

14 - GO TEAM.jpg

STORY | AT 17.36 on 23-02-20, the many hands which delivered our first ever Sleepwell Project came together for a moment. We had delivered 60 mattresses from 52 supporters in the UK and boy were we tired, but so proud of each other. Each team member wearing one of our very own Team Bangles. Pick them up by scrolling below…

15 - SPECIAL MONKEY.jpg

STORY | An early morning monkey leaps between trees on the paradise island known globally as Hairy Lemon Uganda. The island now resides far below the surface of the warm waters of the River Nile, following the 2018 dam completion downstream and subsequent flooding which displaced People and Wildlife forever.

16 - EDITH.jpg

STORY | a glorious smile but what you don’t see are the two siblings holding Edith up behind the wall, perhaps that’s really why she is smiling!!

17 - TEAM SWING.jpg

STORY | I sometimes wonder if the swing will even just hold me as ai leap from the top of the slope, this is not even a full house on the swing but these kids are crazy!

I don’t often work in black and white, but it feels like it simplifies the chaos.

18 - BUJAGALI FALLS.jpg

STORY | Bujagali Falls was hands down one of the best, easy-access sections of big warm whitewater kayaking/rafting rapids in the world but following the completion of a dam in 2012 these rapids were swallowed by a watery silence. The knock-on effect saw an economic impact on many of the locals and they turned their hand to fishing. Here, a solo fisherman cruises the calm where once chaos was the order of the day.

19 - TOMS SUNSET.jpg

STORY | Tom was enjoying his evening swim and bathing, removing the heat and dust of another Ugandan day. I saw a moment and visualised this image. After a little bit of translating and a few trials, Tom trusted the process and I was up to my chest in the water to catch Tom diving off the sunken fishing boat and into this moment forever.

Tom saw his pictures shortly after and received his prints a few days later.

20 - Lemon Ghecko.jpg

STORY | Geckos are common features of the Ugandan landscape, especially scampering along the walls of your bedroom. This little fella was nestled inside the lampshade on the Hairy Lemon Island. Completely unaware of how striking he/she looked. With a strong silhouette, I spent quite some time making it work. The Hairy Lemon Island, unfortunately, succumbed to another River Nile Dam project and this beautiful paradise is now full of hidden memories below the surface of this great river.
